Artist

I go by Viken, and As an artist, I am fascinated by the juxtaposition of the ephemeral and the enduring, the delicate and the resilient. My work centers around the transformative power of gilding, a process that elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary. By meticulously applying fine layers of gold onto bones, I seek to explore the intersection of life and mortality, beauty and decay.

The bones I work with are not only remnants of living beings but also potent symbols of the passage of time. By adorning them with gold, I aim to honor their history while imbuing them with a new, luminous vitality. This alchemical process not only celebrates the inherent beauty of the natural world but also prompts contemplation on the cyclical nature of existence.

Through the marriage of precious metal and organic matter, I invite viewers to ponder the interconnectedness of all living things and the enduring allure of transformation. My art is a reflection on the fragility of life and the enduring legacy of those who have come before us, encapsulated in the timeless elegance of gold bones.
