The Gold Bonez collection was inspired by the history of ancient Egypt and their love of gold and God-like curiosity of exotic animals such as the Nile Crocodile. Every piece is covered in genuine 24 karat gold, known as the flesh of the gods during ancient times. The ancient Egyptian god Sobek bore the head of a crocodile, a symbol of pharaonic power, military prowess and fertility. The origin of his name Sobek is derived from a causative of the verb “to impregnate”. Known as Lord of Semen, Sobek would steal wives from husbands.
24 karat gold has a unique ability to withstand tarnish, and is the softest, most brilliant of all gold. Pharaoh's would hand pick and create pets out of these dangerous animals, lavishing them in gold in forms of chains and bracelets. These exotic pets have been found mummified in ancient egyptian tombs, to be taken into the afterlife.
Even today, the beauty of gold is recognized by the flesh of every race, creed and culture. Standing as one harmonious piece, every scar and scratch tells a story, from the base that it sits on to the tip of the snout, all the natural elements from earth and its creator come together as a harmonious depiction of creation. The remains of the animal are not forgotten, they are once again immortalized in a simple marriage with gold.
